Los Mormones creen en la Trinidad, Dios el Padre, Su Hijo Jesucristo y El Espíritu Santo. La Doctrina Mormona enseña que los tres miembros de la Trinidad son seres diferentes y separados, como se dice en 1 Juan 5:7: “Porque tres son los que dan testimonio en el cielo: El Padre, el Verbo y el Espíritu Santo…” Cada uno con Su propia función, sin embargo son uno en propósito y doctrina, están unidos en su propósito de llevar a cabo el plan divino del Padre.
A su vez, consideran que José Smith fue El Profeta escogido por Dios para restaurar en la tierra la plenitud del Evangelio.
